About EXFORGE

EXFORGE is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). EXFORGE contains two prescription medicines that work together to lower blood pressure: amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), and valsartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB).

The blood pressure-lowering effects of EXFORGE have been studied in several clinical trials that included over 5,000 patients with high blood pressure. The safety of EXFORGE has been evaluated in over 2,600 patients with high blood pressure; over 1,440 of these patients were treated for at least six months, and over 540 of these patients were treated for at least one year.

EXFORGE is available in four strengths: 5/160 mg, 10/160 mg, 5/320 mg, and 10/320 mg. The first number refers to the amount of milligrams (mg) of amlodipine. The second number refers to the number of milligrams of valsartan.

The power to help you get to your BP goal

  • In clinical studies, EXFORGE was proven to be more effective in lowering high blood pressure than either of its components alone.
  • In adults 18 years of age or older, EXFORGE was proven to significantly lower high blood pressure regardless of age or gender.
  • EXFORGE is available in a variety of dosage combinations, which can be adjusted to best fit your needs.

Works two ways for better results

The two medicines in EXFORGE work together in different complementary ways to effectively lower blood pressure.

Here's how it works.

Blood is carried from the heart to all parts of the body in vessels called arteries. Blood pressure is created by the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as it circulates and the force of the arteries as they resist the blood flow. You have high blood pressure when the force is too much. EXFORGE can help your blood vessels relax so your blood pressure is lower. Medicines that lower blood pressure lower your chance of having a stroke or heart attack.

EXFORGE is approved to treat high blood pressure, and is not approved to treat or prevent cardiovascular events, including heart attacks or strokes.

Talk to your doctor today to see if EXFORGE is right for you

If you have made changes to your lifestyle and tried high blood pressure medications such as CCBs or ARBs, and your blood pressure numbers are still not where they should be, ask your doctor today if EXFORGE is right for you.

Important information about taking EXFORGE

Take EXFORGE exactly as your doctor tells you. Take EXFORGE once a day at the same time each day.

Be sure to tell your doctor about all the medications you take, including prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Some of your other medicines and EXFORGE could affect each other, causing serious side effects.

EXFORGE is a prescription medication for the treatment of high blood pressure. It may be used when one medicine to lower your high blood pressure is not enough. It may also be used as the first medicine to lower high blood pressure if your doctor decides you are likely to need more than one medicine.
